Kate Middleton has accepted an honorary membership at Wimbledon it was revealed today (Friday). "The Duchess was pleased to accept the kind offer, particularly given her interest in tennis," the Daily Mail quotes a Palace spokesperson as saying. The 31-year-old Duchess of Cambridge is a huge tennis fan and has been a fixture at Wimbledon for several years.
Kate's gracious acceptance of the honorary membership at Wimbledon All England Club has added to speculation she may be in line as the club's next president. Currently the Duke of Kent, 77 holds the position. The Duchess is already credited with helping boost the sport's image and she's long been a tennis supporter. As Examiner.com previously reported in 2011 a hand written note, Kate had written to the All England Club in 2008 thanking organizers for allowing her to stroll around Wimbledon virtually unnoticed, was made public. It's unveiling shows the long relationship she's had with the Club.
Kate Middleton is often spotted at Wimbledon during the summer, where she takes in matches either alongside Pippa or Prince William. Ironically, it's believed she'll likely miss out on any matches this year given she's due to give birth in July.
