Jimmy Fallon’s first week as host of “The Tonight Show” wouldn’t have been complete without a visit from his Grammy award winning BFF Justin Timberlake. So, JT stopped by last night, Feb. 21, to check in with his “History of Rap” partner and friend.
Justin took his seat and the pair just sat for a few minutes, soaking up extended screams from the audience. Now, wait for it – the buds grabbed mics and launched into another crazy good rendition of their signature duet, “History of Rap” (Part Five).
When they returned from break, Jimmy kicked things off by thanking his friend for appearing on the show in the middle of his massive “20/20 Experience” tour.
He said, “I can’t thank you enough for coming here our first week. You know what a big deal it is for me so I really appreciate you being here for me.”
JT came back with a quick and sincere, “I love you.”
Say it on the count of three: Aww!
They talked about doing the “Saturday Night Live” Christmas special together and Justin dubbed it his second favorite SNL. He also credited Jimmy for making it fun saying, “I love doing SNL with you because it’s like, to have the camaraderie, to have someone who really understands what that week is like. That week is crazy.”
Someone in the audience shouted, “Bromance!”
Jimmy and Justin used cartoon voices to claim “Happily married!” and then joked about only having a couple sleepovers and only one hot tub.
The conversation steered to all of Justin’s well-deserved Grammy awards with Jimmy noting it gives “us fans a chance to show how much we love you.”
Justin praised New York fans saying, “They give you the most real reaction to whatever it is you’re doing. The awards are amazing but it’s like, you know, I don’t want to hang out at a party with a bunch of mes. I don’t even like me that much. You walk down the streets of New York, it’s like, (uses a New York accent) ‘Hey, Timberlake! Alright, huh?’”
The charismatic singer was following his “Tonight Show” stop with a live show at Madison Square Garden and took the time to offer up a sincere and comedic apology to the city of Buffalo for having to postpone his show until summer, due to being sick. His “20/20 Experience” tour kicks off in the UK and Europe on March 30 and returns to the U.S. with the Buffalo show on July 9.
Justin capped off his appearance with a smoldering rendition of “Not a Bad Thing.”
Ending with Justin Timberlake seemed like a perfect fit after an amazing first week as “Tonight Show” host with some iconic guests like Will Smith, Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper and more. Hands down, JT and JF simply brought the most fun.
Justin Timberlake will perform in Detroit at The Palace of Auburn Hills on July 28. Click here for ticket information and to buy tickets.
