Jury reaches verdict in Bubba the Love Sponge defamation suit

Howard Stern's radio bro Bubba the Love Sponge Clem was found "not guilty" on all counts by a jury of his peers Wednesday in the defamation suit filed by fellow Tampa based DJ Todd "MJ" Schnitt.

Schnitt accused Clem of defaming both himself and his wife Michelle to the point of causing financial damage, but the jury cleared Clem on all 24 counts after nearly three weeks of testimony. Much of the lawsuit centered around Bubba's 2008 statements in which he referred to Michelle Schnitt as a "wh**e". Schnitt's attorney also asserted that Bubba the Love Sponge's campaign of hate against the Schnitts encouraged his followers known as the "Bubba Army" to harass the couple at public events and at the law firm where Michelle worked.

MJ Schnitt posted a response to the verdict in a series of messages on his Twitter account, writing:

"I feel good that we took the high road and will always be comfortable with the fact that we did the right thing. My wife & I were protecting our reputations & also standing up for so many others who have been defamed, but didn't have the means to fight. This was never a 1st Amendment case. I love our Constitution. The 1st doesn't allow you to lie and make false and defamatory statements."

Bubba the Love Sponge's post trial tweet was much briefer, simply stating:
