According to Jennifer Jones' twitter account , the Canadian Olympic gold medal winning curling team from the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi presented a prestigous award at the 2014 Juno Awards from Winnipeg on Sunday night.
The Canadian team of skip Jennifer Jones, third Kaitlyn Lawes, second Jill Officer and lead Dawn McEwen of Winnipeg were all on stage to announce that Justin Bieber of London, Ontario was the 2014 winner of the Juno Fan Choice Award.
Even though the Canadian team was on stage, they received boos by the Winnipeg crowd when Bieber's name was announced. Bieber, who was not in attendance, has received harsh criticism in recent months for allegedly egging a neighbour's house, being charged with driving under the influence in Miami and being charged with assaulting a limousine drive in Toronto according to Etan Vlessing of the Hollywood Reporter.
This was the latest accolade for the Jones team since winning Olympic gold in women's curling. The first accolade was announced on February 25 by the city of Winnipeg. The St. Vital Curling Club in Winnipeg will now also be located on Team Jones Way as well as the street's original name of Regal Avenue.
