Miami Dolphins long snapper John Denney is set to make his second Pro Bowl appearance when the annual AFC versus NFC showdown commences later this month in Hawaii.
Denney made the team as a coach’s selection by the Denver Broncos – a second such time he has been tapped to be on the squad by a member of the AFC. His last Pro Bowl selection was in 2010.
The 34-year-old played in all 16 games this season. He served as a long snapper in every matchup and also contributed four tackles on special teams.
In an interview conducted with Denney last season the former BYU standout said he didn’t care about getting many accolades off the field. “I think as long I’m doing my job not a whole lot needs to be said,” Denney exclaimed.
Barring any decisions not to attend, the Dolphins should have three players participating in the Pro Bowl including defensive end Cameron Wake, guard Richie Incognito and Denney.
Wake is, of course, making his second appearance after posting 53 total tackles, 15 sacks, three forced fumbles and a pass deflection this season. His last showing in the Pro Bowl was also back in 2010.
Incognito, who was already chosen as a first alternate, will fill in for either New England star Logan Mankins or Baltimore star Marshal Yanda, depending on the outcome of the AFC Championship game.
