John Cena replaces Fred Flintstone on Fruity Pebbles box

It all spawned from what was intended as an insult delivered from The Rock to John Cena in reference of Cena's colorful collection of shirts. "You walk around here looking like a big bowl of Fruity Pebbles." The Rock told Cena during a January 2012 episode WWE Raw.

Now, John Cena will officially be replacing iconic cartoon figure Fred Flintstone on both the Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles box. It appears that Post is looking to update the brand a bit and John Cena is the face that fits the bill.

"We've just been talking with kids. They wanted more variety," said Sharon Pupel, a Post marketing director in an article for adage.com. "Fred isn't necessarily the … coolest or [most] relevant guy for kids who we are going after."

The promotional partnership between the WWE and Post is expected to last through Wrestlemania.

This is a pretty significant victory for the WWE and obviously one for John Cena. It is another example that the so-called 'PG era' is working for the WWE even if the fans are not completely happy.

It was one small insult from The Rock and one giant leap for John Cena and the WWE. Should The Rock be entitled to a percent of John Cena's royalty check?
