Albuquerque (55-64) led throughout the game. Jamie Romak's RBI single put the Isotopes ahead in the second inning.
Peterson hit a two-out, two-run double in the third inning. That proved decisive as Las Vegas (66-54) struck back in the fourth.
With two outs, Kevin Plawecki and Cesar Puello hit back-to-back doubles to put the 51s on the board. Daniel Muno's RBI single brought his team within 3-2.
The Isotopes shrugged that off as Tim Federowicz smacked an RBI double with one out in the fifth. Clint Robinson followed with a two-out, solo home run in the seventh.
The final run crossed in the ninth as Peterson hit an RBI single to right field. Peterson and Robinson finished with three hits apiece.
Bennett (6-6) gave up just the two runs on seven hits and two walks while picking up one strikeout. Colt Hynes followed with two scoreless innings and Josh Ravin finished with a scoreless ninth.
Noah Syndergaard (8-6), the Mets' top prospect, was not nearly as effective in his second start against Albuquerque. He was charged with four runs, two earned, on seven hits and four walks in five innings.
The Isotopes and 51s will meet again Friday at 8:05 p.m. Right-hander Barry Enright (0-2, 8.18 ERA) will start for Albuquerque against Las Vegas lefty John Lannan (1-1, 4.26).
Prior to the game, the Isotopes added two pitchers to the roster. Right-hander Bruce Billings (5-5, 5.06 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre) was signed as a free agent by the Dodgers and assigned to Albuquerque. He took the open roster spot left by Pedro Baez's promotion to Los Angeles on Tuesday. ... Left-hander Chris Reed (4-8, 3.22) was promoted from Double-A Chattanooga. To make room for him, right-hander Steve Smith (2-4, 7.09) was sent back to the Lookouts.
