Tim Federowicz homered to lead a 12-hit attack as the Albuquerque Isotopes cruised to an 8-2 victory over the host Las Vegas 51s on Monday night. The 51s still took three of the five games in the series.

The Isotopes (56-67) got plenty of big nights from their hitters. Jamie Romak went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles and an RBI.

Las Vegas (69-55) jumped ahead quickly on Brandon Allen's two-out RBI single in the first inning. Andrew Brown then scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.

Albuquerque responded in the second inning. Alex Guerrero and Mike Baxter then hit back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game.

The Isotopes were not done as starting pitcher Zach Lee helped his own cause with a two-run single to put them ahead 4-2. They would go on to add two more runs in the third inning and two more in the fifth, including Federowicz's solo home run.

Lee (7-10) was solid as he allowed just two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings of work. The right-hander threw 57 of 88 pitches for strikes.

Red Patterson then came on and picked up his first save of the season. The right-hander tossed three scoreless innings, with one hit allowed and one strikeout.

Former Isotope Giancarlo Alvarado (3-6) took the loss. He allowed all eight runs on 10 hits and one walk in five innings.

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a team-leading three RBI in his best game since coming off the disabled list on July 26. Clint Robinson was 2-for-3 with two runs and a double.

Albuquerque will open a four-game series with visiting Memphis (Cardinals) on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Right-hander Jeff Bennett (6-6, 3.97 ERA) will face off with Redbirds lefty Tim Cooney (11-6, 3.69).

Prior to Sunday's 7-5 loss to Las Vegas, Albuquerque made several roster moves. Infielder Darwin Barney was recalled by the Dodgers while left-handed reliever Colt Hynes was designated for assignment, rendering him inactive. To fill out the roster, infielder Walter Ibarra rejoined the Isotopes from Double-A Chattanooga while right-hander Fabio Martinez was called up from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. ... The Dodgers optioned right-handed reliever Pedro Baez to Albuquerque on Monday. He made room for the activation of veteran right-hander Kevin Correia, who was acquired in a trade with the Twins over the weekend.
