Is Artie Lange hiding from George Takei?
In a scene that was oh-so 2008, Howard Stern announced Wednesday morning that Artie Lange would be absent from The Howard Stern Show for the second day in a row. Artie Lange notified Howard Stern Show producer Gary "Baba Booey" Dell'Abate that he was "still feeling sick" by text message early Wednesday morning.
Artie Lange's recent Howard Stern Show absences have raised suspicions about the comedian's sobriety. They have also led many Howard Stern Show cast members and fans to question why Artie Lange always seems to get "sick" when official Howard Stern Show announcer George Takei is visiting the studio.
George Takei, best known as "Sulu" from the original Star Trek series, has spoken openly about his homosexuality on The Howard Stern Show, and Artie Lange has admitted makes him more than a little uncomfortable. George Takei also prompted Artie Lange to record a public service announcement earlier this year to make amends for his flagrant use of the word "fag" in his stand-up performances and Howard Stern Show riffs.
Artie Lange has admitted on-air that he has never actually been authentically "sick" when he has called in to the Howard Stern Show in the past. George Takei stated that he is holding out hope that Artie Lange really is physically ill, and that his absences aren't motivated by drug use or homophobia.
"You sound like me five illnesses ago," said Howard Stern with an unmistakeable sadness in his all-powerful voice.

Artie has no voice on the show any more. The Howard he idolized has been replaced by a PC version of Don Imus complete with Hampton's elitism. No one can be offended on the show any more since it might affect the HorseFaced, brain dead Beth and her massive career.

Maybe he's avoiding George. I'd put those odds somewhere around 50%, I think. On the other hand, I'd put the odds of him being strung out around 99%. It doesn't really take much pondering; he's got a drug problem. Same old story!
I don't recall George speculating about Artie being homophobic or his absence being somehow related to his appearance on the show. George and Artie have actually hung out together. Artie is gone again today, as is George. There goes that theory.

Has anyone else noticed that Beth O's teeth are actually much BIGGER than the famous choppers of Baba Booey's? I'd love to see Howard have the balls to meassure them both on the show, it would make for a terrific bit!
