Former Apple Records artist Brute Force, one of the performers at the upcoming HarriFest2013 tribute to George Harrison, told Beatles Examiner on Monday he's participating because he loves to perform.
“Performers love to perform and that's a good reason to be at HarriFest. More importantly, the event is going to benefit Bristol County Hospice/Visiting Nurses and Hasbro Children's Hospital for cancer research and support. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if the cancer which took George would have, by the time he passed, been cured through research? He could have still been in the material world been with us.”
HarriFest 2013 will be held Feb. 16 and 17 at Seaport Inn & Marina, Route 6 in Fairhaven, Mass. In addition to Brute Force, who'll perform with his daughter (who will sing under the title Daughter of Force), the event will feature 10 Beatles cover and tribute bands: Octopus' Garden, the Mockers, the Cryers, Glass Onion, The Oh No's, Rattled (Traveling Wilburys tribute), Thatcher Harrison, Sherman and the Waybacks, Loose Salute and One Sweet Dream (McCartney tribute).
Also in attendance will be Shaun Weiss, son of Beatles associate Nat Weiss, and who attended the 1964 Ed Sullivan Show, The Beatles' Shea Stadium show and the Apple Rooftop concert, plus merchandisers and artists with Beatles creations.
On Feb. 17, Cha Chi Loprete of WZLX's “Breakfast With the Beatles” will host a VIP Beatle Breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon for $20. (Ticket deadline for this is Feb. 14.)
All proceeds will be donated to Bristol County Hospice/Visiting Nurses and Hasbro Children's Hospital for use in cancer research and support.
Tickets for the show are $20 per day. Tickets are available by mailing a check payable to George Harrison Tribute with a self-addressed/stamped envelope to "George Harrison Tribute, P.O. Box 1466, Westport, MA 02790. Some tickets will also be available at the door.
