Just in time for International Bacon Day this Saturday, Ford has released a bacon-wrapped car, according to USA Today on Aug. 29. Now don't worry, you won't have to be fighting bears off your car, these bacon strips are vinyl.
The vinyl strips are fitted to specifically fit the 2014 Ford Fiesta. This is absolutely a unique marketing idea if we've ever seen one. And they've even given pork-lovers options. Ham-enthusiasts can choose from a full bacon wrap that extends from the engine all the way to the trunk, or a driver can go for a sleeker looks with bacon racing stripes that stretch over the top of the car. A third option, called 'a side of bacon' features bacon strips hanging over the wheels or a driver could go for full strips that don’t cover the whole of the car. The final option features a pair of smaller, understated bacon strips.
If you like to live dangerously and desire a car fully encased in bacon, the price sits at $3,347 plus installation. To get the bacon features on the cheap, choose the bacon mini strips for $78.75 plus installation.
In the press release, Ford Fiesta marketing manager Liz Elser explains, “It’s no secret that bacon inspires a lot of passion, and that’s what the Fiesta celebrates. Our customers have a hunger for self-expression. Plus, it’s just awesome to drive down the road in a piece of bacon.”
This promotion, which is tied to International Bacon Day, was also aimed at piquing customers’ interest in their other customizable wrap selections for the Fiesta. You may find it hard to believe that a person out there is willing to spend over $3,000 on bacon-wrapping their car, but one of these days, you know you’ll see a meaty Fiesta speeding down the highway.
Are you in love with bacon enough to decorate your car with it?
