Injustice: Gods Among Us plot has Batman leading a rebellion against Superman

NetherRealm Studios has not revealed the reason that superheroes are fighting against each other in Injustice: Gods Among Us. However, a major plot leak on Friday clues us in on what's behind the big clash in the DC Universe for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U game.

Blur Studio, the studio responsible for the first Injustice: Gods Among Us trailer, posted the video they created along with the following plot description on their website.

An all-out battle rages between the forces of Superman and those allied with Batman’s rebellion. Time has stopped—the world completely frozen in a instant of time—a moment where violence has boiled over and could consume the meta-human community.

Those that follow the modern day incarnation of DC Comics know already that Superman and Batman have always had an uneasy alliance as the Dark Knight has never truly trusted the Kryptonian. It sounds like NetherRealm is exploring what happens when something happens that finally makes their relationship snap.

In the Injustice: Gods Among Us trailer released for Comic Con you can hear what sounds like Batman say, "You. I trusted you. You betrayed me."

This is followed by what must be Superman saying, "You stole her from me!"

That sounds a little different from previous Batman/Superman clashes over the years including probably the most famous one, Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is due out some time in 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
