On Monday, police in Lansdale arrested Herson Guardado, 16, after he reportedly tried to rape a woman at knife point at Stony Creek Park.
The 25-year-old woman was placing her three small children in the car after an afternoon of play, when Guardado grabbed her from behind, according to police.
A knife was held against her side as the Salvadoran national tried to drag the victim into the nearby woods.
She told police he said, 'you want sex,' as he pulled her towards the woods. She was able to slip from his grasp, and then he ran into the woods."
The woman ran back to her children and called 911.
Police were able to locate Guardado in nearby Upper Gwynedd, a knife as well as drugs were found in his possession, according to court documents.
Guardado, who will be tried as an adult, has been charged with attempted rape, attempted sexual assault, unlawful restraint, possessing a weapon in a crime, drug possession, disorderly conduct and harassment.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Guardado is in the country illegally.
The suspect's next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 27.
