Ignorance Fuels the Crazies

It’s crazy season again.

Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle

--  warns of “second amendment remedies” if teapartiers don’t get their way

--  claims that she can’t see any physical differences between Hispanics and Asians.

Dallas Congressional candidate Stephen Broden

supports violent overthrow of the United States government if Republicans don't win the election.

Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann

--  wants to resurrect the House Un-American Activities Committee

  • --  thinks that President Obama plans to operate concentration and re-education camps for young people
  • --  wants the people of Minnesota to be “armed and dangerous”

  • Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell
  • --  whines about U.S. Supreme Court cases she doesn’t like, but can’t name any

--  claims to have engaged in “deep analysis” of the Constitution, yet doesn’t know what’s in the First Amendment

--  thinks she has had security clearance to see classified Chinese government plans to "take over" the U.S. government

--  thinks that scientists have created mice with “fully functioning human brains”.

    Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller

thinks he has the right to order his goon squad to handcuff and detain journalists for asking questions he doesn't like.

  • Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul
  • objects to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

  • Ohio Congressional candidate Rich Iott
  • dresses up like a Nazi for fun.

  • Ginni Thomas, wife of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas,
  • seeks an apology from Anita Hill, completely out of left field, nearly two decades after an imaginary wrong.

  •
  • Pennsylvania Senate candidate Pat Toomey wants to eliminate ALL taxes on corporations.

  • Pennsylvania Governor candidate Tom Corbett
  • thinks that everyone who collects unemployment checks is lazy.
  • New York Governor candidate Carl Paladino has a speedo fetish and threatens to “take out” a reporter

Thirty United States Senators voted to protect rapists and the government-paid companies that employ them.

They profess their undying reverence for the Constitution, but have no idea what’s in it AND REFUSE TO READ IT.

  • During a recent trip to Washington, DC, I heard a tourist ask a tour guide in the Capitol Building where he could find Jesus in the Constitution. He was completely shocked when told that Jesus isn't in the Constitution.
  • Many want to repeal the 14th  and 17th  amendments to the Constitution. That would be due process of the law for all citizens and your right to elect members of the U.S. Senate.

  • Some want to revert to the original Constitution, before the amendments. You know, the one that protects slavery and treats women like property.
  • They’re so politically ignorant that they don’t even know where they live. I’ve seen several yard signs in my own neighborhood touting Republican candidates for different state House and U.S. Congressional districts where we don’t live.
  •
  • They demanded that tax cuts replace job-creating projects in the stimulus bill, and now whine that the stimulus didn’t create enough jobs.

    They think

--  that cutting PERSONAL taxes for the wealthy will somehow magically make CORPORATIONS hire more people

--  that ACORN was powerful enough to steal an election

--  that “small government” means that it’s the government’s business to tell you whom you can marry and have sex with, that you must give birth to a rapist’s baby, that you MUST worship their god, and what substances you can and cannot use.

--  that all gays are pedophiles and that it’s contagious.

--  that the United States military is so weak and useless that our troops can't handle working with a few gay colleagues.

--  that corporate executives will always do the right thing, purely from the goodness of their hearts

--  that the president of the United States wants to kill your grandma.

  • And they think you’re dumb enough to fall for all of it, too.
  • These incidents would be laughable if they weren’t so pathetic , nauseating, and horrifying. Their craziness is rooted in a deep and profound ignorance of American history, law, science, and culture, along with an intense fear of education. A difference of opinion is one thing. Outright lies and terrorism are something else.

    Please don’t fall for it.

I am glad you have pointed out that there are no "crazy" Democrats running for office!! Great piece of reporting. I will cast my vote for solid "Dimocrat" and we can keep ultra-high unemployment, trillion dollar deficits and all the stuff that makes America great.

      I "pointed that out"?
      Really?
      Where?

This is just the kind of mis-informed non-critical thinking that is fueling the crazies.

      In your article you wrote:
"Their craziness is rooted in a deep and profound ignorance of American history, law, science, and culture, along with an intense fear of education. A difference of opinion is one thing. Outright lies and terrorism are something else"

Ms. O'Malley, writing such statements reveals such an intense lack of intellect on your part that I barely know where to begin in response.
      1. while you might feel that the opinions referenced in your noted articles reflect "craziness" you have no conceivable ability to conclude that the opinions reflected in the articles you site are "rooted in a deep and profound ignorance of American history, law, science, and culture, along with an intense fear of education." That is an amazingly egotistical statement evidencing your overwhelming ego.
      2. Including the statement: "Outright lies and terrorism are something else" in reference to the opinions in the noted articles is excessively hyperbollic and more extreme than anything found in the articles you loath. Crashing airliners into the World Trade Centers are examples of "terrorism" madam - expressing one's opinion in any written forum is not.
      3. If you expect anyone to take you seriously, you need to learn how to write an intelligent and thoughtful article.
