Last week, deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) arrested several members of a human smuggling ring in a rented home in Laveen, Arizona. One of those taken into custody was the group's leader, Javier Rito-Martinez, 35, who has already been deported back to Mexico eight times.
KPHO also reports that Rito-Martinez was also involved in a gun fight in the Valley in 2010.
The arrests came as a result of a five-month joint investigation by the MCSO deputies and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The smugglers were bringing people from Oaxaca, Mexico, into Arizona illegally, and made millions of dollars in the process, according to MCSO detectives.
In a press release, MCSO Sheriff Joe Arpaio:
It’s a real tragedy knowing that multiple members of this smuggling operation have been deported a number of times each. Martinez, the ringleader of this syndicate, had been deported eight times by the U.S Government.
How can the federal government oversee all the different aspects of millions of people on a 'pathway to citizenship', if they can’t manage to track and deal with people coming and going now? Also how can the US government track the 300 illegal immigrants which were released yesterday if they can’t keep track of Martinez who has been deported eight different times? I hope they can figure that out while they sort out immigration reform.
Also arrested and charged wit human smuggling were:
- Herolinda Isaias-Moreno, 44
- Fernando Benitez-Valdez, 33, previously deported four times
- Julio Menseses-Yanez, 28
- Marco Isaias-Moreno, 47
- Angel Avila-Najera, 36
- Irinero Rios-Ordaz, 31, previously deported five time
- Jesus Munoz-Ortiz, 44
These arrests not only demonstrates how pointless deportations have become with an undefended border, but also exposes the outright lies being told by the Obama administration on their claims of a "secure border."
