Volunteering and donating to charities is very rewarding. This holiday season, think about all the animals in need at the Central Dakota Humane Society. The Central Dakota Humane Society is no kill shelter that works with the community to “house, rehabilitate, and relocate lost, strayed, or homeless animals.” They also work to eliminate unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. They have spayed and neutered over 7,000 cats and dogs. The CDHS has a variety of ways to get involved at the shelter.

How to Volunteer

There are a variety of ways to volunteer for CDHS. CDHS is always looking for volunteers. Working with pets, office duties, and running errands are just a few of the available volunteer positions. CDHS is also looking for pet fosters. To become a volunteer, simply fill out their volunteer form.

Ways to Donate

If volunteering doesn’t fit into your busy schedule, there are a variety of ways to donate. CDHS has donation canisters located in shops all over Bismarck. A few examples of where these canisters can be found: Little Caesar’s Pizza, KT Animal Supply, and Missouri Valley Vet Clinic. For the entire list, click here.

It is also possible to donate in honor of a family member or friend. The person you donated in honor of will receive a thanks from CDHS. For those who have recently lost a pet, donations can be made in memory of a pet. A memorial gift or memorial paw print are available. The memorial pawprints are placed around CDHS, but these paw prints can also be purchased for an individual’s home. Donations can also be made directly on their website. There are a variety of other ways an individual can donate to CDHS. For more information, click here.

CDHS also accepts item donations. They are always in need of beds, gas cards, cat litter, and many other necessities. Click here for the full list of needs.

Become a Member

Becoming a member is an inexpensive way to help pets in need. An individual membership costs $20.00 a year. Of course, higher levels of membership are available. Members receive a quarterly newsletter, and is tax deductible.
