It is no big secret that the current regime we call the federal government tries to stop the practice of free speech. The secret lies in the methods it attempts to employ to silence ordinary citizens, which go unreported in the mainstream media and which most Americans never notice.
At present the primary method utilized by the Obama administration and its lackeys in Congress and in the courts is a deft attempt to define who can legitimately question government officials and report on their activities and statements.
The leviathans in the federal government want to require that any question directed at the centralized authority originate from an "authorized source," which U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., describes as "authorized journalists with legitimate credentials" and who draw a full time salary from a legitimate news source.
Members of the regime, such as Feinstein, are so alarmed by the growing power and influence of bloggers, reporters from alternative news sources, and ordinary citizens who are serious about their ultimate power as the final arbiters of public policy, that they are now frantically attempting to find ways to restrict these stalwart and persistent truth detectors.
The mindset is becoming widespread among the leviathans of the regime and those among the citizenry who support it.
This reporter had a rather nasty encounter some time ago with a spokesman of a major International Airport in the Southwest when I questioned him about some concerns that passengers had expressed about the facility's hiring practices.
The spokesman questioned me as to my "credentials." I told him I had an accredited Master's Degree, had done half the work necessary for a second Master's Degree, and had the equivalent of a PhD in another field that does not refer to its degrees in the manner that most educational institutions do. Realizing that he could find nothing in that to harp on, he proceeded to grill me about my "journalistic" qualifications. He wanted to know if I had a degree in journalism. I refused to tell him and snapped a response rather loudly indicating that I am not the subject of the investigation but that he is, and that I would answer no more questions.
He then told me that unless I had a journalism degree from an accredited university, then I was not qualified to ask him questions. I quickly pointed out that most of the rank and file reporters who work for the major newspapers, magazines, and TV and radio outlets do not have journalism degrees. In local TV and radio, reporters normally go to a technical school for two years or less to become educated in "multimedia news." Nationally many reporters have degrees in History, English, Law, Economics, Political Science, and other pertinent fields, but not journalism. Walter Cronkite, for example, did not have a journalism degree. In fact, he dropped out of college in his junior year.
Thus, in the current push by leviathan collectivists to silence free speech, even Walter Cronkite would have been disqualified to ask the elitist gold-bricks of the ruling class a question.
What, then, does this mean for you, the average citizen?
It means that increasingly an ordinary citizen has no standing whatsoever to question the government or to investigate its claims in an attempt to discover the truth. Not only are bloggers and reporters from alternative news outlets disqualified, but unless any reporter has a journalism degree or works for one of the approved sources of news (which in the thinking of the leviathans is MSNBC, Newsweek, ABC, CBS, CNN, the New York Times, Time Magazine, the Washington Post, and sometimes even Fox), then he or she is automatically barred from having access to public officials, even the ones they themselves "elected" to public office.
But this process goes much further. The members of the regime in Congress who went home to face local town hall meetings in 2010 were so stunned and horrified by the opposition and rage of their constituents that not only have many decided not to hold town hall meetings this year but to limit those who can attend and ask questions.
This means you, the citizen, are barred from having access to those who purport to represent you in what is supposed to be a representative republic but that has quickly turned into an authoritarian, totalitarian regime that considers you to be its subjects (slaves) rather than citizens.
