Today President Barack Obama lied again. If you have been trying to keep count, you probably stopped a couple of hundred lies ago. Lies, smoke and mirrors, and deception have become the modus operandi of this administration.
And now the public has caught on. Thus, the question, how many lies can a president tell before he's given the boot?
Most Americans are fully aware that Obama lied about the economy and his infamous stimulus plan. He lied about the unemployment rate, which, although it has shown some slight improvement, is much higher than anyone in the government will acknowledge. Why? They don't count the underemployed who work part time but need full time jobs to make it. And they don't count those who want to work but have dropped out of the market in complete exasperation after trying for years to get work.
And Americans are ever aware of the astounding pack of lies told about Benghazi and the murders of a U.S. ambassador and three members of his security team. For this ruse Obama engaged the help of Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, and others in the administration who covered for his bumbling failure to give an ambassador minimal security in a region that the State Department admitted was infested with al Qaeda operatives waiting to strike.
Egypt represents another pack of lies.
When the first Arab Spring took place, Obama and his top lieutenants told the public that Egypt was "ready for democracy." We now know that is a barefaced falsehood. A nation that votes itself into slavery, with the terrorist organization The Muslim Brotherhood in charge, is not engaging in "democracy" but in tyranny by majority rule.
We are now witnessing the disintegration of Egypt's majority vote as the Muslim Brotherhood-backed president has been ousted from office. But the Brotherhood, in the meantime, has gone on a scourge of Christians and Jews, killing hundreds if not thousands, desecrating and torching their churches and synagogues.
We have Obama to thank for this atrocity, along with his Middle East adviser Samantha Power, who is now Obama's ambassador to the United Nations.
Of course there are various and sundry other lies Obama has told about Obamacare and its provisions, immigration, taxes, government spending and the debt, and on and on it goes ad infinitum.
Today, however, the lies, the deception, and the duplicity have come into full view as the NSA finally got around to admitting it abused its power by spying on millions of Americans without warrants, without court approval, and without any evidence whatsoever that these citizens were suspected of having contact with terrorists.
But Obama, almost at the very same time the NSA admitted its illegal activity, claimed once again that the NSA is not spying on American citizens and that no allegation has been made that the NSA tried to listen in on the people's email.
Is this man living in the same universe as the rest of us?
The cold, hard fact is that Obama knows what he is doing, and he deliberately lied in spite of the public's full awareness that he is lying. He hopes that by denying the obvious, most of the blind followers of his base will believe anything he says, even if he proclaims a sunny day during a hurricane.
But the key question that arises in all of this is how many lies can a president tell before he is ousted from office? If lying once to the American people is not a high crime and misdemeanor worthy of impeachment, then lying incessantly certainly is. And who, if anybody, is going to force the NSA to pay for its crimes against the American public?
Laws have been broken that demand a response from Congress. Will they act? Not as long as John Boehner is Speaker and Harry Reid is Majority Leader in the Senate. Boehner has shown time and again that he will allow Obama to get away with murder without even as much as a serious hearing on the subject of impeachment. Remember Fast and Furious? As for Reid, he will not even admit that such a scandal took place.
But if the House Republican leadership goes after Obama on Fast and Furious, they will also have to go after Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder, and many others in the top tiers of government. This the leadership establishment is not willing to do. Being close ideological cousins to the perpetrators prevents any justice from being meted out.
