Hopes dashed: Paul McCartney won't be in 'Sound City' London show

Ticket listings for the "Sound City" show next Tuesday mention Paul McCartney's name, but his representative said Friday the former Beatle will not be among the performers that will join the Sound City Players show that will take place Tuesday at HMV Forum in London.

“He's not around. It's a false report!,” his representative told Beatles Examiner in an email.

The show is listed as sold out on the HMV Forum site, perhaps because of the listings that include his name, though third party sites like this one still have tickets.

McCartney's performance with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, three former members of Nirvana, was a surprise attraction at the 12-12-12 benefit concert when they performed a brand new song, “Cut Me Some Slack.”

Though McCartney's name is not mentioned in the HMV Forum ad, it does advertise appearances by Grohl, Novoselic and Smear, plus Rick Springfield, Rick Nielsen, Jessy Greene, Lee Ving, Brad Wilk, Taylor Hawkins, Rami Jaffee and Chris Goss, among others.

The "Cut Me Some Slack" song was included in the recently released “Sound City” documentary, which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in March.

Music from the film, including the McCartney track, will also be released on CD and vinyl. The audio version also includes contributions from Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Springfield and Trent Reznor.
