Until now, none of the supporters of the Senate amnesty bill (S.744) passed last June have explained how 20 million jobless Americans would benefit from legalizing 11 million illegal aliens and giving them work permits.
Hillary Rodham Clinton - and the Democratic Party - have stepped forward and made it very clear where millions of her unemployed fellow citizens stand in terms of employment opportunities.
In Chicago to promote her new book, the Associated Press reported that Clinton revealed her contempt for American workers in a discussion with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel following the stunning defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor:
Clinton said the basic argument of (David) Brat's campaign was that if Americans are out of work, immigrants shouldn't be allowed into the U.S. to take those jobs. She echoed comments from a Tuesday speech to an industry group that represents fruit and vegetable growers, saying immigrants take jobs — such as picking fruit — that Americans won't.
"The answer is not to throw out of work and deport the 11 million immigrants who are contributing already to our economy," Clinton said. "The answer is to grow our economy and create more jobs."
So there it is. Jobless citizens are supposed to sit on the sidelines and hope for the best while illegals are permitted to keep their jobs?
What Clinton apparently doesn't know is that only 4 percent of illegal aliens work in the agricultural industry (whose labor needs can be met with the H-2A visa program that allows growers to bring in unlimited numbers of temporary legal workers). But what about the 7 million illegal workers holding payroll jobs in the construction, manufacturing, transportation and services industries? The majority of these jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, already are being done by our citizens so the "jobs Americans won't do" argument is off the table.
Clinton is perfectly suited to a political career. She is callous and cold-hearted and will stop at nothing to further the goals of her morally bankrupt party, including making more of the most vulnerable Americans increasingly dependent on welfare and other government benefits. The Democratic Party finally has shown its true colors, and the American people are the biggest losers in a political system clearly designed to produce only a few winners.
