When it comes to the highest paid DJs in the world, no one does is better than Calvin Harris. Harris, 29, made an estimated $46 million. According to the Las Vegas Sun on August 16, 2013, that payday puts the Scotsman ahead of Tiesto, 44, a Dutchman who only made 432 million.
Harris clocks in at $46 million, while Tiesto plays runner-up at $32 million (poor guy). The Scotsman, along with French DJ David Guetta, has led the recent crossover to the mainstream pop charts with big-hit collaborations with, among others, Akon, Rihanna (their Grammy-winning “We Found Love”), Ne-Yo, Florence Welch and, currently, Ellie Goulding.
Harris, on top of the highest paid DJs list compiled by Forbes recently, was bagging groceries for a living just a few years ago. Tiesto has been battling back and forth with him for some time now for the number one slot. A new electronic dance music explosion has taken the world by storm and the DJ rules all.
Many of the highest paid DJs reside in Las Vegas year round. They are in such high demand that they can get all the high paying work they want right now from the local clubs and casinos. In addition to being a top DJ, Harris is also a singer-songwriter and a record producer to boot. He is the current record holder for the most UK top 10 hits from a studio album.
