The name is Hersh’s Pizza but they do so much more at the restaurant it should be called Hersh’s Italian Restaurant. Offerings on the menu are the wood-fired pizzas along with antipasti, primi, and secondi.
Let’s first talk Double Fried Sundays, featuring Baltimore’s only Calabrian fried chicken. Hershkovitz double fries his chicken and tosses it in a sweet and spicy Calabrian chili sauce. For a mere $20 guests get the fried chicken, two sides and a draft beer of their choice. Right now the sides are creamy polenta and braised greens but they will change as do the seasons. Reservations are highly suggested. Look out Colonel Saunders.
Secondly, there is now a new chef’s nightly pre fixe at Hersh’s Pizza which will feature a four course menu and adult libation pairings tailored to guests’ preference. It is available any night and where as cost varies, one can approximate $60 per person prior to tax and gratuity.
“We’ve always loved to give guests a dinner party experience, and this takes all of the decision-making off them and lets us entertain and show them what we do best,” says Chef Josh Hershkovitz. It also gives guests a preview of new dishes that haven’t yet debuted on the menu, like pork cheeks with polenta and braised walnuts, and fried taleggio with fig agrodolce and basil. Barkeep Abby Hopper, formerly of Lemaire and Balliceaux in Richmond, VA, creates a new set of cocktail, wine and beer pairings for each food menu. Reservations are required.
