Legendary Christian singer Amy Grant joins "Hercules" actor Kevin Sorbo to star in the upcoming family-friendly comedy, "The Secret Handshake" now filming in Nashville, Tenn. at several local sites including David Lipscom University. Sorbo has successfully reinvented himself as a leading man in family-friendly, faith-based films including "Abel's Field," "God Is Not Dead," and "Soul Surfer" which was written by Howie Klausner.
Directed by Klausner who wrote the script, "The Secret Handshake" is produced by Timothy D. Brown and James Spies. The movie stars Sorbo as Roy, a father trying to raise three daughters in the suburbs. The problems arise when the girls start to attract the attention of neighborhood boys. When the men and boys leave suburbia for a trip to the woods, they all learn what it takes to be a man.
"This is a hilarious script about boys learning how to be men, from men who never learned themselves," says Sorbo. "Looks like my experience as a parent is about to pay off."
Amy Grant stars as the mother of one of the troubled boys. A few other Nashvillians are in the film including radio personality Phil Valentine.
Grant is a music veteran who has sold over 30 million albums worldwide since her start in music as a teenager. She has also appeared in several films and television programs. Sorbo is best known for portraying Hercules in the TV series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Andromeda" as well as in a variety of movies.
