It's become almost a certainty that whenever a tragedy happens, liberals will come out of the woodwork to promote their favorite cause. Monday's tragic shooting at the Washington Navy Yard that has left a number of people dead is no exception as former "Happy Days" star Henry Winkler took to Twitter to promote gun control, Twitchy reported.
"ANOTHER shooting in WASH D.C. PLEASE America do nothing to promote gun control .because thats how we roll until we have all shot each other, (sic)" he tweeted.
A number of people took Winkler to task for what Twitchy called a ghoulish comment made about an ongoing tragedy.
"What an ignorant remark," one person said in response.
"You are a great actor. But you should not be remarking about our constitutional rights," said another Twitter user.
"It's ignorant to be making such insensitive statements without facts. And it's on a military base. Guns live there," tweeted "Clay Layton."
Chris Loesch asked Winkler if he took into account the fact that the Navy Yard is already a gun-free zone before calling his attempt to politicize the shooting victims "sick."
Another person reminded Winkler that a violent person intent on causing harm will use any tool to get the job done, while another person informed him that criminals will still be criminals "even with gun control."
"Yeah, those d**n guns, keep jumping up and shooting people and in a gun free zone of all places. Can't they read?" one person sarcastically asked.
Another Twitter user asked Winkler about the high crime rate in Detroit, a city with strict gun control.
Newsbusters' Noel Sheppard said that Winkler is apparently unaware that the District of Columbia is "consistently ranked as having the toughest gun laws in the nation," citing a post at gunsandammo.com.
"Until the recent Heller Supreme Court decision, residents weren’t even allowed to own guns," the site said.
"As such, it appears The Fonz has once again jumped the shark," Sheppard said.
