Halo 4 Specializations: What to do if you have not received your unlock code

See also

We've been reporting on the situation with the Halo 4 Specialization unlocks since Microsoft first announced that all eight Specializations would come to those that played the Xbox 360 shooter by Nov. 20. Since the final emails containing the unlock were sent out this past Saturday, we have been inundated with emails and comments from players who say that they meet all the eligibility requirements but have not received their code yet. 343 Industries provided an update Sunday on the status of the issue and what to do if you are one of the unlucky ones.

343 Industries community manager Jessica Shea is currently working with "all involved parties" to try and resend the emails that contain the Halo 4 Specialization unlock codes to those that have not received them. You can be added to the list by posting the following in this Halo Waypoint forum thread.

  • Your Xbox LIVE Gamertag
  • Confirmation (by saying yes or no) you played the game while connected to Xbox LIVE before 11:59:59 P.M. Eastern Time on November 20, 2012
  • Confirmation (by saying yes or no) you are 17 years of age and older
  • Confirmation (by saying yes or no) you live in the United States, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, or India

That third bullet point with the age restriction is a new wildcard that is thrown in the mix. We do not recall seeing that being mentioned before and is probably the reason why many have not seen the unlock codes. [Ed. - Through my under 17 year old son's email account, I can confirm that he never received the email despite playing on Xbox LIVE frequently prior to Nov. 20.]
