Halloween in East Tennesse

While Linus waits for the Great Pumpkin hundreds of people across East Tennessee are kicking the Halloween holiday into overdrive. Tonight along Main Street in Clinton, local law firm Ridenour and Ridenour along with several other local businesses hosted a grand family event filled with games, a fortune teller, face painting and plenty of candy.

The Ritz Theater even got in on the act, transforming into a mini-haunted mansion. The evening ended with a showing of "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown," and "Hotel Transylvania." South Clinton Baptist Church also held its annual trunk-or-treat with each entry having religious themes ranging from Noah's Ark to a giant set of hands showing how God has his love wrapped around each of us. .

Just a few years ago most of the focus of all the fun was on Halloween night and "Boo at the Zoo." However, more and more churches and organizations are working to make sure there is plenty of family fun to go around. In fact there are several more events you might want to check out over the next few days.

First Baptist Church of Clinton hosts its "trunk or treat" event on Sunday (October 27th) from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The cost of admission is a canned good (preferably, Sweet Potatoes, Fruit Cocktail or Cranberry Sauce) for a local food pantry.

Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville (on Henley Street) hosts its "trunk or treat" on Sunday (October 27th) from 5:30-7:00 pm.

1st United Methodist Church in Maryville hosts its Family Fall Celebration on Tuesday (October 29th) from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. This free event features inflatables, a "trunk or treat," games, a cupcake walk and hot dogs. Several agencies will also be on hand with safety demonstrations. St. Mark United Methodist Church in Clinton hosts its "trunk or treat" on Halloween Night starting at 6 pm. In addition to the candy treats there will also be popcorn, hot chocolate and cider.
