Gun-grabbing, sex-offending ex-rep Reynolds arrested on porn charges in Zimbabwe

Disgraced ex-congressman Mel Reynolds has been arrested in Zimbabwe on pornography and immigration charges, Fox News reported Tuesday.

“Reynolds was arrested Monday at a Harare hotel after he brought several Zimbabwean models and other women to his hotel room and took photos and videos,” the report explains.

“This is the latest of several legal problems for Reynolds, who ... resigned from his congressional seat in 1995 after he was convicted of 12 counts of statutory rape, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography. While in prison he was also convicted of bank and campaign fraud. He was in jail until his sentence was commuted by President Bill Clinton in January 2001.”

From one sex offender to another, if rape allegations are to be believed -- perhaps asking Bill and Hillary for a “yes” or “no” answer to the question “is Juanita Broadrrick a liar?” can put an end to years of speculation.

Reynolds was the successor in office to another political embarrassment, Gus Savage, who a House Ethics committee determined had made “improper sexual advance” to a female Peace Corps volunteer during an official trip to Africa. Savage initially claimed the charges were “racist.” He also insisted that only white people could be racist, and that Reynolds, when challenging him for his seat, had the backing of “racist Jews.” During that campaign, Reynolds backers suspected Savage was behind a drive-by shooting in which the challenger was injured, while the incumbent said the shooting was staged.

Reynolds in turn was succeeded by Jesse Jackson, Jr., who was also national co-chairman of Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, and who is currently serving a 30-month sentence after pleading guilty to wire and mail fraud.

There appears to be some sort of pattern here -- but what?

The one thing all of those sterling examples of the Chicago political machine shared with current office holder Robin Kelly (Reynolds actually had the nerve to try to recapture that seat after Jackson vacated it) is the goal of disarming their constituents and their countrymen, and Reynolds has consistently been one of the worst of the lot.

“If it were up to me, we’d ban them all,” he told CNN’s Crossfire in 1993.

Reynolds joined Alcee (Gun Owners Are Racists) Hastings, impeached as a judge for ethical violations and then, naturally, elected to congress by a “discriminating” constituency, to support Major Owens’ Orwellian-named “Public Health and Safety Act.” The bill was actually a treasonous attempt to ban handguns, back when doctrinaire gun-grabbers did not feel the need for today’s false front that it’s all about “gun safety” and you must be paranoid if you think anyone wants to take your guns. Back then, at least they admitted it.

Reynolds was also a key partner with Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer on the Clinton semi-auto ban and campaigned last year to try to ban them anew.

The bottom line is, this convicted felon, a prohibited person who is disqualified by federal law from owning a gun himself, does not trust you with a gun. This ... thing, who based on results either cannot or will not control himself, demands to control the rest of us.

As a personal aside, Reynolds was actually the subject of one of my early published letters to the editor back in 1995, in which, noting his conviction on statutory rape I asked “What poses a greater danger to the children of our communities -- my lawfully-owned and used semi-automatic rifle or his ‘assault weapon’?” I also did the cartoon accompanying this column at that time for a pro-gun newsletter I published, and actually got moved to the front of the call-in line by Mr. Snerdley and got a chance to repeat it to Rush Limbaugh on his radio program.

It’s still personal today: Uncontrolled degenerate control freaks like Mel Reynolds have no say on my rights and never will.

Will you let them have a say on yours?
