An ad produced by the gun company USAAmmo compares President Obama to dictators like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong while warning that "tyranny and gun control is only an election away!"
CBS Washington reports:
The USAAmmo ad shows side-by-side pictures of Obama with Hitler, Stalin and other dictators who committed atrocities across the world. The ad, which is also accompanied by a video, warns that gun control is imminent and foreshadows that the U.S. could face millions in casualties if they are not allowed to defend themselves.
"Liberty is at peril every single day and with every breath we take. For 235 years, tyranny in the United States has been held at bay through US Citizen's right to bear arms," the ad warns.
USAAmmo also linked Occupy Wall Street to the liberal effort.
"The recent Occupy Wall Street protests and liberal attempts at gun control are eerily reminiscent to the rise of Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot and Idi Amin," the website says.
Trace Williams, USAAmmo operations director, defended the ad, telling CBS Washington “Obama and his various czars are infringing on the rights of Americans to own guns.”
He also said he has no regrets and his company has received “unbelievable support”since the ad went out, telling CBS sales have gone "through the roof."
“Just look at history. Obama’s socialist agenda is geared toward depriving American citizens of their God-given rights.”
The website quotes Thomas Jefferson:
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion to your walks."
CBS noted:
Obama promised stricter gun control laws following the January Tucson shooting where Rep. Gabby Giffords was seriously injured and six others were killed.
In May, the Washington Post reported that President Obama met with gun control advocates Jim Brady and his wife Sarah.
At that meeting, the President said gun control "was very much on his agenda:"
“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Brady recalled the president telling them. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”
Faced with a Congress hostile to even slight restrictions of Second Amendment rights, the Obama administration is exploring potential changes to gun laws that can be secured strictly through executive action, administration officials say.
