A few comments have been made by Rockstar Games in regards to the digital release of the upcoming “GTA 5” on the Xbox 360. As reported by Complex on Aug. 23, the publisher confirmed that the latest “Grand Theft Auto” title won’t feature the same pre-order features on the Xbox Live Marketplace as it will on the Playstation Store.
A representative from Rockstar Games stated that pre-orders on the Xbox Live are not possible due to technical reasons. This is because the Games on Demand services do not support the pre-order functionality. However, the individual also mentioned that the company would release the digital version of “GTA 5” as soon as possible if it were “technically feasible and permitted by Microsoft.” You can check out the statement below (courtesy of Complex):
For those asking about digital pre-orders on Xbox LIVE, the Xbox 360 Games on Demand service does not offer the ability to pre-order games or make them available on launch day. That being said, we will be making GTAV available via Games on Demand as soon as it's technically feasible and permitted by Microsoft.
Rockstar Games previously confirmed that Playstation 3 users are able to pre-order “GTA 5” from the Playstation Store. Players will be able to download and install the video game straight to the Playstation 3 console at launch. Sony Computer Entertainment is also offering a 75 percent discount on a video game published by Rockstar Games for customers who pre-order the digital version of “GTA 5” on the Playstation Store.
“GTA 5” is expected to hit the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on Sept. 17. You can check out the latest screenshots of the forthcoming title in the slideshow on the top left-hand side of the article. You can pre-order the products from Amazon in the following links: “GTA 5”
