Grand Theft Auto V is quickly turning into a monster hit for Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive. However, Tuesday's launch hasn't been completely smooth as users are reporting issues with not only the Social Club online hub but also with the game's disks as well.
The Rockstar Games Support Twitter account has been flooded with questions about disk errors and problems linking with the Social Club.
The common response from Rockstar is to ask the user if the disk has been damaged and to try it with another console and link to this support page. However, users have responded that there are no scratches or damage to the disks and that the Xbox 360 works fine which leaves trying to exchange GTA V with the retailer they purchased it from as the only remedy. This opens up the prospect that a bad batch of disks could be circulating through retailers.
There are even problems with downloading the game on the Playstation 3 through PSN as multiple reports indicated downloading the 18 GB game stopped at roughly 14 percent. Stopping the download, deleting the downloaded data and restarting the download appears to fix it though.
The good news is that these is that the disk and download issues do not appear to be widespread at this point.
Additionally, the Social Club is going through issues that affects not only Grand Theft Auto V but older Rockstar titles such as Max Payne 3 as accounts are not linking and starts are not being updated. The developer is working to fix the issue according to the support page but it is fortunately not a huge issue yet for GTA V since the multiplayer component will not launch until Oct. 1.
