Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil predicts Super Bowl winner

Ground Hog Day

This is the first time that Groundhog Day has fallen the same day as Super Bowl. Punxsutawney Phil, Pennsyvania’s infamous groundhog, normally predicts whether winter will continue for another six weeks if he sees his shadow or it will be an early spring if there is no shadow.

Las Vegas odds makers are saying Super Bowl it is pretty damn close with a 2 point margin between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. They looked to Punxsutawney Phil to guide them this morning. If the furry Phil saw his shadow it will be the Denver Broncos taking the Super Bowl trophy. Alas, like its own city known for rain and overcast, the Seattle Seahawks would garnish the Super Bowl win if Punxsutawney doesn’t see his shadow.

A shadow was seen, we can expect more winter, more arctic vortex and Denver Broncos will walk away with the Super Bowl win.

Since my column is normally about food than I need to finish this vignette on a culinary note. The Denver Bronco fans can sit down with a bowl of green chili or a nicely charred Angus steak along with cool bottle of Coors while the Seattle Seahawks fans cry in their coffee.

We hope you have enjoyed our tongue in cheek look at Groundhog Day and Super Bowl.
