If you have questions regarding the intense and emotionally-charged finale to "Grey's Anatomy" Thursday night, then Shonda Rhimes has a few answers for you.
In an interview with Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, Rhimes first discusses the decision to kill off both Reed and Charles during the episode:
"It was both really easy and really hard. We’ve been layering in these people all season, and I wanted you to feel comfortable with them and their personalities. I also really wanted [to lose] people who we barely knew. It’s sort of like what Charles says to Bailey: 'I know you really didn’t like me.' And Bailey says, 'Oh, I liked you.' And then he’s gone. By the time we fell in love with him, he was gone."
She also proclaimed that she was unsure what would have happened to Izzie during the finale had Katherine Heigl stayed on the show -- though we did see Alex call out for her after he was shot.

Looking forward to next season. Love this show.
very emotional and exciting finale. I cried for almost the entire 2 hours. Very charged episode that reminded me why I fell in love with this show. Looking forward to next season. Thanks, Shonda. You still rock!
i want izzie :(
I love this show however the finale was lame! Where in the world where all those law enforcement people? They were everywhere outside and yet the shooter just strolled all over the hospital shooting people and never was even isolated to one room. The elevators were shut down but there wasn't a cop in sight for help. When the shooter got shot finally the first time why wasn't he isolated then instead of just letting him wander? Not believable at all and I love the show. I'm just sayin...
Shonda,
This was the BEST season finale that I have ever seen. I don't normally get emotional when watching programs. However, I was exhausted when it went off. Congratulations!!! Job well done...I can't wait for next season.
P.S. I really miss George..
Have to agree with blueboy... LAME. So the elevator is shut off; go find someone to help you, don't just sit there and let the guy die. Also, the shooter only has a pistol...100 policeman in full swat gear cower in the parking lot while he strolls the halls for over half an hour?! LAME
The finale was awesome. I too practically cried the entire 2 hours. For me it didn't have to be believable. I saw how a situation that has happened many times in real life, can end. In real life, when a maniac with a gun enters some bldg with a grudge like that, people DO die. So it was very believable to me. I enjoyed it and can't wait for next season! All the actor's performances was top notch. Meredith made me ball my eyes out lol.
I agree with blueboy. What were the writers thinking with the Bailey elevator scene. Don't just sit there, and cry. You are a Dr for goodness sake. I was screaming, go down the stairs and get help. He didn't shoot you before and he will not now. A man's life hangs in the balance and you just sit there and hold his hand. Super Lame!!! Also, I'm glad Owen finally made a move on the shooter. I was about to loose my mind.
First of all, to those SWAT haters, come on. Haven't you seen CSI and what not? Or even the SWAT movie? If a crowd of people with huge guns come in, Mr. Clarks would be pressured. He would think even less and shoot whoever the hell he wants to get to his goal; thus more people die. Like the scene when that girl ran out of Deryk's office and right at that moment, Mr. Clarks shot Deryk only a couple of seconds after he put his gun down. That girl didn't even carried a gun! He was PRESSURED. I would say this was the best finale ever. Every finale just gets better and better. As for Bailey at the elevator scene, I must say I am disappointed. She could have used the stairs to find the right surgeon, but think of the reality if you were the doctor with the knowledge. He probably was dying in less than the enough time for Bailey to find a doctor and she knew it was best to rather be there for him. Sometimes, trying isn't good enough. Quit.
