The fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” have to be excited about the news of renewal for one of ABC’s popular shows. The network announced that the cast will be and moving towards a new future. In fact, the show is already dishing out details about the season expected later in the year. According to Fashion Times on Thursday, there will be a few less familiar faces and a few new doctors running the halls of the Seattle hospital.
Sadly, two actors playing residents won’t be returning for season 11 of "Grey's Anatomy." Shane and Leah, played by Gaius Charles and Tessa Ferrer, have already announced they will be exiting the show and not returning to the new season. There was a tease that another staff member also might leave, but so far no word on if that was factual or a rumor.
The big loss for the season is that Sandra Oh won’t be returning to the show. With the news that she was leaving at the season finale, viewers were sad to hear the actress decided to move on. One of the original cast members, she has held her position for a long time. However, her character, Dr. Christina Yang, has decided to focus on a new path and she exits the show.
One element that concerns fans is where the cameras will turn if the best friend of Meredith Grey is not on set. Will Meredith still get plenty of screen time? Or is there going to be a gap for the character as she no longer has anyone close to confide in like she has been doing for many seasons? Season 11 has 24 episodes, so hopefully she finds a new buddy on the series.
Which brings fans to the new faces of “Grey’s Anatomy.” There have been rumors that other actors are currently auditioning for parts, but so far there has been no confirmation on who might be added to the cast. One big rumor on the forums is that not one, but two doctors will be added to the hospital when the series returns.
With the big season finale story of a crisis at a local Seattle mall, it appears that the doctors will be consumed with helping the folks in need and when the new season arrives there will be a look at how the hospital changed after Dr. Yang left.
