Walking for a great cause is this Saturday, March 23, at the beachfront Islamorada Founders Park, mile marker 87 bayside. Participants in the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis Walk will play some kickball, eat some yummy food and have a day full of some good ol' family fun surrounded by a bayside beach with calm waters, aquatic center, ball fields and a marina.

Participants may sign up and bring a donation of at least $10 to the check-in at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m.

Any amount is helpful, say the organizers.

“Your commitment to this year’s walk allows us the opportunity to continue to raise the funds necessary in order to give the children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis the quality of life and the future they deserve," said José Piñera, senior development director with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - South Florida Office. “We will be successful in our mission to find a cure for cystic fibrosis because we have caring people like you behind our passionate fight.”

This year’s Honorary Chairs are Gary and Susan Ellis and Alan & Elaine Schulberg and the event chairperson is Carmen Perez-Padron.

To register online for Great Strides in Islamorada, or the other South Florida walks set for April 13 in West Broward County through May 19 in North Broward/Boca Raton, visit www.cff.org/greatstrides. Or for the Islamorada walk, call the Redbone office at 305-664-2002 or see www.redbone.org.
