Kathy McCabe, co-producer of “Good Ol' Freda” the film about the Beatles and Freda Kelly, was bubbling with joy on Sunday, a day after about the world premiere of the film Saturday at South By Southwest.
“The premiere was truly amazing!,” she told Beatles Examiner. “A night to remember after 20 months of hard work. A packed audience of 650 people gave a standing ovation for Freda and the film after the premiere ended.”
She said the film ends with a clip of Ringo Starr saying how great a friend Freda was to the Beatles and their families.
The film features four Beatles songs, which was a goal the filmmakers had been negotiating for a while. But Billboard reveals the film also includes the Beatles from their Christmas recordings cheering “Good Ol' Freda,” which is where the film gets its title.
“We're all over the moon with the fantastic reception 'Good Ol' Freda' received and are looking forward to the next SxSW screening Tuesday March 12 at Topher at ZACH at 9:15 p.m.,” she said.
