Golden Globes 2014 was good to several actresses and movies, including Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and “12 Years a Slave,” according to a Jan. 12 KABC TV 7 news report. The phenomenal drama scored a big Golden Globes award for best movie drama on Sunday night. “American Hustle” stars Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence also nabbed awards for their roles in the movie, while the movie itself took the award for best movie musical or comedy.
As the Examiner previously reported, both “American Hustle” and “12 Years a Slave” tied for seven nominations each, but “12 Years a Slave” won only one award in the best picture category.
This is Lawrence’s second win in a row. She took home a Golden Globe for her powerful role in last year’s David O. Russell hit, “Silver Linings Playbook.” In usual Lawrence fashion, the actress dished out her humor in her acceptance speech, according to the Calgary Herald. “Don’t ever do this again,”she told herself. “It’s so scary.”
Clad in a strapless, white Dior dress, the first award of the night went to Lawrence, E! News reports. The actress was grateful for her consecutive win. “Thank you! Oh my god HFPA you really are just too kind,” she told the crowd. “It's so wonderful, so thank you and thank you to the cast, you guys are all so incredible and fun and funny and nice. Thank you to my family and my team and I'm sorry I'm shaking so much, don't ever do this again! Okay thank you, thank you!”
