Golden Globes 2013: Highlights and downfalls on the red carpet (Photos)

The Golden Globes 2013 event took place on Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. The live broadcast aired on NBC. The night wasn't just about the awards. It was also about the fashion. U.S. Weekly and Handbags.com reported their best dressed lists on Jan. 14. Here's some highlights and downfalls about the fashion on the red carpet.

The highlight of the night was Anne Hathaway. All eyes were on her as she hit the red carpet. The "Les Miserables" star wowed the crowd in a strapless white gown designed by Chanel couture. Her red carpet look could've used a little more jewelry, though.

Zooey Deschanel and Jennifer Lawrence showed up in bold red ball gowns. The actresses almost looked like twins. Zooey's dressed wore an Oscar de la Renta gown with white pearls, while Jennifer opted for a belted Versace gown. Claire Danes was also red hot in a Versace gown with a plunging neckline.

Taylor Swift finally ditched her sparkly gold dresses. The country crooner has been maturing her red carpet looks. On Sunday night, she wore a deep plum gown by Karen Atelier. It had a square neck and a plunging back. She swept her hair back in an elegant bun.

The red carpet wasn't without its share of fashion fails. Halle Berry and Eva Longoria showed a little too much leg. Halle wore a busy peach patterned dress by Versace, while Eva opted for a black Pucci gown. Eva's gown also had a plunging neckline.

Lucy Liu caused a stir in her blue floral gown by Caroline Herrera. There were mixed reviews on Twitter last night. The floral print was overwhelming on the petite star.
