The story of the Facebook giraffe riddle is making headlines in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Chronicle's Web site, SFGate headline on Monday read, "Why is everyone talking about giraffes on Facebook?"
If you haven't heard, here is the riddle: "It’s 3:00 am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors. It’s your parents and they are there for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"

The Chronicle also discusses the suspicion that the the whole thing could be a hoax designed to spread a virus. The paper reports, "Some people are claiming a hacker group is behind the game and that your computer will be infected with a virus if you post a giraffe as your profile picture, but numerous experts are quoted as saying that it is highly unlikely to nearly impossible. It would require malicious html to have been embedded in every jpg available online." This related story has a good discussion about whether the riddle is some kind of hacker's hoax.
