Ginger Zee is engaged, the “Good Morning America” weekend weather anchor is getting married and she considers herself "the luckiest girl in the world" today. Zee is marrying Ben Aaron of WNBC, who popped the question in a very ordinary spot and hid the ring in a very ordinary treat the two often enjoy together, according to ABC News on Aug. 22.
Zee told her viewers on "GMA" that it was Wednesday of this week when Aaron proposed to her and she set the scene by telling the viewers what, where and when it happened. She had just come from a workout and she was in her workout clothes when he asked for her hand in marriage. The two often met after work at a fountain, which she thought they were doing again on Wednesday. They had their first date at the fountain recalls Zee.
The popular weather anchor said that the ring was hidden in a Magnolia bakery banana pudding container, a treat they had on their first date and something they often shared through the years they've been dating. Men were doing construction at their favorite meeting place, the fountain outside NYC's Lincoln Center. The guys in hard hats stopped long enough to applaud after Aaron proposed and Zee tearfully accepted. Zee, 32, told GoodMorningAmerica.com:
“I had no idea! It was 2:30 p.m.– I had workout clothes on and the construction crew working on the fountain burst into applause–so cute!”
Aaron, 31, a correspondent for “New York Live,” gave Zee the container of pudding and inside was the ring box Zee said:
"I couldn’t even open the box I was so shaky and crying with happiness.”
“My heart is so full! I really feel like I’m the luckiest girl in the world."
Zee calls Aaron the love of her life, and his sense of humor causes her to laugh the hardest she ever does when she is with him, she tells her viewers.
