Chicago is one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. and one great way to see the city this summer is to ride your bike to work. More people are taking this method of transportation with the high gas prices and to help the environment. If you find it hard to fit exercise in your weekly routine this is an excellent way to incorporate fitness in your schedule.
This is the 27th year for Bike to Work Week in Chicago. It has grown from a one-day event to a full week. It ends on Friday with a big event in the Bike to Work Rally on Daley Plaza (Washington and Dearborn Streets). WGN TV will be reporting daily for Bike to Work Week. Follow them at www.wgntv.com/biketowork. Learn about some of the best bike shops around Chicago. Learn about quality bikes, safety precautions such as reflective equipment, helmets and backpacks for your bikes to carry your belongings to work.
As you plot out your route to work you can take advantage of placing your bikes on certain areas in the Metra trains and you can also attach your bikes on special bike carriers on the front of CTA and PACE buses. This also a great time to learn about bike tours in Chicago, cycling classes and maintenance workshops. You can also upload your videos about why you love to bike on http://www.thechainlink.org/page/psa-contest-submission and win a contest The City of Chicago is hosting, a PSA contest to spread the message that biking is “a fun, healthy and environmentally-friendly form of transportation.”
