Genocide nets twenty six minutes, eighteen seconds per victim

Fox news reports that the ex-intel chief of Rwanda has been convicted and sentenced to twenty-five years in prison by a French court. This stems from the 1994 genocide in Rwanda which resulted in at least half a million victims.

A quick run on the calculator shows that the sentence amounts to about twenty-six minutes, eighteen seconds per victim. Twenty years later!

Little solace for the victims or their survivors.

This pattern of genocide, followed by trial and conviction, reflects on a grand scale, what often happens with run-of-the-mill criminals here in the US. Our law officers are very good at tracking down murderers after the fact. The courts convict, and in the most egregious of cases, sentence the perpetrators to long terms, life imprisonment, or death.

Again, little solace for the victims or their survivors.

Most adults in Tennessee have the option of arming themselves at home, and if they have sufficient funds to get a carry permit, can be armed away from home. The Rwandans, on the other hand had those choices taken away from them by government as reported HERE and HERE.

Whether the danger comes from a meth-head or a rogue government, are you willing to give up your right to keep and bear arms, and take your chances that the sheriff's posse will arrive in time to save you?
