The current decline in the PC and subsequent rise in mobile use has affected the way many businesses run their day-to-day operations. The online humor website Cheezeburger is no exception as they have experienced a fluctuation that resulted in laying off 35% of their work staff in April of this year. In a current transitional phase, Cheezeburger CEO Ben Huh looks to Scott Moore, a former Yahoo, Microsoft and Yell executive, to oversee the process. Mr. Moore will take over as COO (chief operating officer), president and a member of the board.
“The humor category is taking off in social and on mobile and Cheezburger is well-established and differentiated in both areas as well as with advertisers. I’m excited about the opportunity to build competitive advantage in a growing media category with broad audience appeal and exciting creative challenges,” said Moore. “Cheezburger is loved by its audience and is poised to go to the next level as a business. I couldn’t be more excited to join Ben and the team.”
In his career Mr. Moore has made Yahoo one of the premiere online sites for getting news, sports, finance and entertainment before taking his talents to Redmond-based Microsoft wear among other duties he published Microsoft's online magazine Slate. After leaving Microsoft, Mr. Moore crossed the ocean where work for the U.K Yell where he worked in eMarketing providing online advertising and other electronic services for small businesses. While working for Yell, Mr. Moore did still have a connection with Microsoft since Yell uses Microsoft's cloud service and office 365.
"Scott is a highly regarded senior executive with vast experience in building and turning around digital and online properties,” said Yell CEO Mike Pocock in a statement. “At Yell, he will develop and execute the new products and services that will enable our more than 1.3 million SME customers and their consumers to take full advantage of the digital opportunity.”
