Another design for a series of Swap-Bot swaps for 5 inch afghan squares, this free granny square crochet pattern has a small square in the middle oriented in a diamond configuration and surrounded by a frame.
With its large gaps, this square design works well for adding drape to a blanket. Alternate it with more solid square designs to eliminate the stiffness associated with blankets made from solid squares. It also makes an interesting effect when tiled by itself, either in the same colors or alternating with an inverse color scheme. The example shown was crocheted using worsted weight yarn and a size G hook; finished size will vary based on yarn selection, hook size, and tension.
