Food stamps for pets? You bet!

A new program launched in New York, Pet Food Stamps, making food stamps available for people with pets of low income families or those already on food stamps is making news headlines this week (Feb. 25).

Pet Food Stamps is a new program that is totally funded and based on donations at this time through Pet Food Direct.

The Pet Food Stamps program provides pet food stamps to qualifying low income families in the United States and to those already on food stamps for six months.

Pet owners must fill out an online application to be considered for the program at the Pet Food Stamp website. Information will be verified and qualified recipients will receive pet food each month in a direct shipment from Pet Food Direct.

Pet Food Stamps was organized and set up by Marc Okon, who also serves as the executive director of the program.

Pet Food Stamps has applied for "non profit" status in New York, with approval pending at this time.
