Floyd Mayweather Jr. declares that Guerrero will be 'number 43'

Golden Boy Promotions announced on Monday that tickets for the May 4th fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Robert Guerrero will go on sale Tuesday, March 12. In effort to promote ticket sales for "MAYDAY: Mayweather vs. Guerrero", Golden Boy Promotions and the two fighters spoke about the upcoming fight. This was the first time Mayweather has spoken about his upcoming bout in nearly a month. According to a March 10 press release by GoldenBoyPromotions.com, Mayweather made the following comments:

“I’m excited for the challenge and fully expect a good, tough fight from him. However, I do expect the same outcome for him as all of the others who have challenged me before…42 have tried, 42 have failed. He will be number 43.”

Mayweather (42-0) also spoke about the excitement of his new Showtime contract and the fact that he now has to fight more often. For the last few years, since Floyd came back from a brief retirement, he has fought, on average, once per year. Floyd's new contract will call for him to fight twice per year.

Guerrero (31-1-1) is an exciting southpaw fighter who's roughly 7 years younger than Floyd. He has the tools to challenge Floyd and some pundits believe that he can pull off the upset. He's mentally tough in addition to his physical skills. Robert respects Floyd's accomplishments but truly believes that he will be the first fighter to hand Mayweather his first career loss.

"MAYDAY: Mayweather vs. Guerrero" will take place on Saturday, May 4. The fight will be live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
