A pair of fisherman from the Florida Keys teased Mother Nature earlier this week as a barrage of storms slammed the Sunshine State with rain and as seen in the video, something much more terrifying.
According to a September 29 report from Daily Mail, Captain Kevin Johnsen and his friend Aaron Osters completed a day of lobster diving a few mile north of Marathon when they spotted a series of water spouts.
Accompanied by Johnsen’s dog Boede, the men chose to ride through several water spouts and they even managed to capture the entire event in an 11 minute video that was uploaded to YouTube earlier this week.
The video, “Waterspout Slalom Florida Keys Reel Adventures”, shows the fisherman and a dog working their way through five menacing water spouts.
Undaunted by the ferocity of the water spouts, Johnsen takes a moment during the video to show the world something as impressive and unnerving at the same time.
“How many people see water spouts or tornadoes from this perspective,” said Johnsen.
The seasoned fishermen say that braving their way through water spouts is not for everyone. The video comes with a warning that states:
“This not for anybody to try EVER and this is a delicately calculated risk based on dozens of fluid variables that change by the second.”
Johnsen also claims that this is his third time going through a water spout in the same boat, and the ones witnessed in the video are just 1/6th the size of a previous water spout encounter.
Needless to say, Johnsen, Osters and Boede were fortunate to make their way back to shore and share their experience with the rest of the world.
Johnsen, who has spent the last 20 years in Florida, is the owner of Florida Keys Reel Adventures where he works as a charter captain.
