Naoki Yoshida has clarified a few details in regards to the PS4 version of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.” According to a report from Dual Shockers on Dec. 14, the game director and producer commented on the potential Playstation Plus requirement.
Naoki Yoshida confirmed that players won’t need to be a member of Sony’s online service in order to play “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” on the PS4. This is because Square Enix managed to strike a deal. They will still have to pay a subscription fee, however, which is the same price as the other versions.
Sony previously stated that the Playstation Plus is required for online gameplay on the PS4 although select free-to-play games and massively multiplayer online titles are exempt from the rules.
The game director and producer also clarified some details regarding the graphics of “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” on the PS4. The video game will be running at 30 frames per second as opposed to 60. Naoki Yoshida explained that the development team wanted to fill the screen with more characters instead of opting for a higher frame rate.
The beta and full version of “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” will be released for the PS4 next-generation system sometime in the next year. The same game is now available on the PC and PS3. You can check out a few screens from the MMORPG in the slideshow to the left of this article.
