great number....i wait the global numbers for next week....
Global numbers???? didn't read the article properly, you'll be waiting untill march next year for the global numbers since it's only out in japan. you fool
Fight bitches.
Great sales, hope it has legs.
Damn, this game did fantastic one its first week. Should reach over 3 million by the end of December with the holiday rush and all. Can't wait until March 9th to get this incredible game.....for PS3!
PS3 will outsell the 360 sooner than later. Every REAL gamer can see that Devs are getting the best out of PS3 now, and release that th 360 has limits, where PS3 has none.
1.5 million sold week 1? That's amazing. To put this in perspective, the Wii has an install base of over 9 million in Japan yet NSMBW only sold 900,000 week 1. The PS3 has just over a 4 million install base in Japan and Final Fantasy XIII seels 1.5 million, that is a ridiculously high attach rate.
Obviously Final Fantasy is a more quality game than NSMB so you'd expect it to sell more but those are still fantastic bragging rights for Sony heading into 2010.
It isn't technically a week, those numbers are from launch day until Sunday which is pretty incredible. It will be very interesting indeed to see what the numbers are for a full week of sales (Mon-Sun). 245k PS3's in Japan in four days isn't too shabby, hopefully they can keep it up.
Yeah great, here's everyone saying "Thank you Square Enix, for bringing us a dumb & dull linear experience without levels, exploration, towns or shops".
Japanese salesfigures don't mean jack sh!t, the stuff they manage 2 sell in the millions overthere is just, well...stuff like Kazuki No Machi-wah Senki 2: Heisa no Tensei vol. 3 - Oribato Warriors Shabam for example sells 10 million in 3 hours, on an install base of 937. And the game absolutely STINKS!
I can't wait to get my hands on that game. Looks awesome.
Konichi - Meh, you are a moron. The fact that FF XIII has ditched EXP Points and levelling up is what makes it so appealing to me. Instead, they're bringing back the "Sphere Grid" (Or "Crystal Grid") from FF X which was one of the most brilliant inventions to ever happen to RPG's. The Sphere Grid worked perfectly throughout the game and i'm sure the one used in FF XIII will, too.
Obviously Final Fantasy XIII is too complex for you which is why you're acting this way. If you'd rather have an unimaginative, undedicated attempt at a Star Trek rip - off that offers no challenge or level of quality whatsoever then why don't you just wait for Mass Effect 2 to come out? I'm sure you'll enjoy an RPG that has no RPG elements in it whatsoever........

Why are you comparing NSMBWII to FFXIII? You are a crazy fanboy! not only those games are in a complete different genre but also in a different system, one with obvious inferior hardware! Also, quality doesn't got anything to do with sells, I bet you that NSMBWII will be selling more overall at the end of this generation.
@ Marcos - i used the Wii's biggest holiday release VS the PS3's biggest holiday release to show just how great an attach rate FF XIII had by comparison. I thought that was obvious but i guess you lack the higher level brain function needed to comprehend when a comparison is being made for practical purposes. You are obviously an idiotic fanboy, so idotic in fact that you posted a blank comment. So there's barely any point trying to communicate with you because you don't know the difference between a fair comparison and a biased opinion.
Also, quality DOES determine sales. Have you ever bought a game because you thought it was poor - quality?
Not sure what to think of this one, final fantasy 12 got rave reviews when it came out but i didn't care for it at all. Guess we'll see when the game comes out in english.
