‘Final Fantasy Versus XIII’ rumored battle system changes revealed (Photos)

More rumored details have been revealed for the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive title, “Final Fantasy Versus XIII.” According to a report by the NeoGAF forum on March 6, a self-proclaimed insider disclosed that Square Enix has removed the action element from the video game’s combat system. As a result, role-playing game will feel more like a traditional “Final Fantasy” release with elements combined from “Final Fantasy XII” on the Playstation 2 and the classic Active Time Battle mechanism. You can check out some screens from the upcoming title in the slideshow at the top of this article.

Despite being announced in 2006 along with “Final Fantasy XIII” and “Final Fantasy Agito XIII” (which was later renamed to “Final Fantasy Type-0”), “Final Fantasy Versus XIII” is still in development at the Square Enix 1st Production Department. The same individual that posted the details on the battle system changes also mentioned that the role-playing game will be released in late 2013 or early 2014.
