Feds to pay $90 million to fix HealthCare.gov

The Obama administration recently announced that it will pay Accenture $90 million to fix HealthCare.gov. Really?

That's a pretty big sum just to fix a website. Couldn't you hire an IT firm in India to do it for $10 million? I get it: That would be political PR disaster, and it's not the politicians' money so what do they care.

It's our money but they'll be long gone before America has to file for national bankruptcy.

The government can't afford to waste more taxpayer money on bloated projects, such as fixing the Obamacare website, which can probably be fixed for much less. Sure, HealthCare.gov needs to interface with state exchanges, millions of consumers, and insurance companies.

But spending $90 million to fix a website is pretty bad when our national debt is over $17 trillion. Sooner or later, China's gonna have to stop lending us money.

And what happens to the original contractor, CGI Federal, that originally screwed up the website in the first place? "The government has spent $394 million setting up the website and the exchanges," according to a report from the General Accountability Office, by way of CNN.

Shouldn't some of these executives (both contractors and government bureaucrats) spend time in jail for robbing American taxpayers? Wasting close to $400 million on a website is outright theft on the grandest of scales.

Go to Elance.com. The average American would probably pay no more than $300 to $500 to have a website built.
